Shared rides can significantly improve fleet utilisation, reduce operating costs and increase the number of passengers that can be transported using the same vehicles.

The Betelgeuse release introduces additional settings to Echo's Shared Ride Optimisation engine, giving operators greater control over how journeys are consolidated while balancing efficiency with passenger service levels.

Optimise shared journeys with enhanced ride consolidation settings, giving operators greater control over passenger timings, routing and vehicle utilisation.

The new options include:

  • Configure the maximum early drop-off time
  • Allow early passenger pickups where appropriate
  • Apply different consolidation rules based on Leaving, Arrive By or Any journey types
  • Define the maximum increase in journey time permitted when consolidating bookings

These additional parameters allow operators to fine-tune how shared rides are created, making it easier to meet different contract requirements while maintaining a high level of passenger service.

By giving controllers more flexibility over consolidation rules, Echo can create more efficient shared journeys without compromising customer expectations or service level agreements.

Whether you're operating patient transport, demand responsive transport, airport transfers or ride hailing services, Shared Ride Optimisation helps maximise vehicle utilisation while reducing unnecessary mileage and operating costs.
