Every major Echo release is named after a remarkable object in the night sky, marking another stage in the continued development of the platform.

Our latest release, Thor's Helmet, takes its name from NGC 2359, a distinctive nebula whose shape resembles the winged helmet associated with Thor.

Introducing Echo: Thor's Helmet, featuring Disruption Zones, smarter zone management, Driver App communication controls and enhanced reporting across the Echo platform.

This release focuses on giving operators greater visibility and control over the changing conditions that affect day-to-day passenger transport operations.

The Thor's Helmet release introduces several improvements across Echo, including:

  • Disruption Zones for identifying temporary operational impacts such as road closures, flooding and construction
  • Smarter Zone Management with categories and colour coding for Polygon and Disruption Zones
  • Driver App Communication Controls for easier management of messages sent to drivers
  • Enhanced Reporting and BI to provide greater visibility of operational information
  • Customer Account Import & Export to simplify the management of customer data

A major focus of this release is improving how operators respond to disruption.

Third-party mapping platforms cannot always reflect temporary or highly localised conditions quickly enough. Disruption Zones give controllers the ability to add this operational knowledge directly into Echo, helping planners identify affected bookings and make informed decisions before they impact the service.

Alongside this, improved zone management, communication and reporting tools give teams clearer information across planning, booking, tracking and day-to-day fleet operations.

For organisations managing NEMT, Patient Transport Services, employee transport, ride hailing and other passenger transport operations, these improvements provide greater control when conditions change and help keep drivers, controllers and passengers moving efficiently.

Over the coming articles, we'll take a closer look at the key features introduced with Echo: Thor's Helmet and how they can support everyday transport operations.
