SMARTER ZONE MANAGEMENT

April 2026

As the number of operational zones grows, being able to quickly understand what each area represents becomes increasingly important.

With Echo: Thor's Helmet, Smarter Zone Management introduces Zone Categories, providing a clearer and more structured way to organise and display different operational areas across Echo.

Organise Polygon and Disruption Zones with custom categories and colour coding, giving planners clearer maps and better operational visibility across Echo.

Operators can:

  • Create custom Zone Categories with colour coding
  • Apply categories to both Polygon Zones and Disruption Zones
  • Clearly distinguish between operational, pricing and disruption areas
  • View zones consistently across Planning, Tracking, Booking and Reporting

For example, operators could use different categories and colours to distinguish a pricing zone, service area and temporary disruption, making the purpose of each area immediately clearer on the map.

This becomes particularly useful for operations managing multiple service areas or complex geographical rules, where controllers need to interpret information quickly and accurately.

For employee transport, Patient Transport Services, airport transfers, NEMT and other passenger transport operations, clearer zone management can help planners understand service areas, pricing rules and operational restrictions without having to investigate each zone individually.

The result is improved dispatcher awareness, fewer opportunities for planning errors and clearer operational context when making decisions.

Smarter Zone Management builds on Echo's existing Polygon and Disruption Zone functionality, giving operators a simple visual way to organise complex geographical information and make maps easier to understand.
